the smol prof
your smol electronic music professor ヽ(´â–½ï½€)♪
welcome, i'm the smol prof!
you might also know me from my artist project, dolltr!ck.
whatever you want to learn about music-making, and regardless of where you are in your creative journey, i hope to provide you with sound guidance (pun intended) and help you become the best version of your artistic self.
about me
i wear many hats artistically and professionally, and one of them is that of an educator. in addition to being an artist and a music technologist, i have been teaching for over a decade.
i am an ableton certified trainer, bitwig certified trainer, and apple certified pro. i have taught at many higher education institutions, and currently run courses at berklee college of music, the city university of new york, and harvard university. before that, i worked with k-12 students in after-school programs, teaching various music, coding, and, arts topics.

as an independent consultant, i have worked with various clients and organizations to conduct workshops and clinics on music tech topics. some of my partners include ableton, bitwig, we make noise, femme house, cirque du soleil, monstercat, and coursera.

teaching philosophy
my teaching philosophy centers on three core beliefs:
-
that music education should be holistic and hands-on, where students are active participants, not passive listeners
-
that especially in music tech, we should consider what is current/upcoming and what has historically come before
-
that there is no one-size-fits-all teaching approach for all students—everyone's learning journey will be different

maintaining a positive mindset and striving for consistency in the creative process is crucial to me. i like to think this rubs off on my students, especially in terms of building a strong work ethic and developing a passion for lifelong learning.
i aim to work with students in the zone of proximal development, a learning "sweet spot" where they are adequately challenged without feeling too overwhelmed. when you learn with me, you should definitely expect hard work, but fun and fulfilling work!
